The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour is back and online with all new award-winning films and audience favorites! Hot on the heels of the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival that just concluded in Canada, the 2020/21 online tour is hitting the VIRTUAL road (so to speak).

Gripping action, outdoor escapades, personal quests, environment, culture – it’s all here to get you jazzed and help you feel like you are with the Banff-loving crowds at the Lensic once again.

Q: What is a film program?

A: Each online program looks very similar to one night of a live screening. The programs start with the infamous World Tour intro and theme music (worth it right there, don’t you think?). Recordings by Banff hosts will welcome the audience, signal the intermission and conclude the program. Each program typically includes 7 to 8 films of varying lengths and topics. Many of the films will be introduced by filmmakers. A brief intermission occurs mid-program with recorded content and concluding with instructions on how to enter the world tour online contest.

Q: What is the price of a program?

A: $15 for one program and $28 for a bundle of two.

Q: How long will I have to watch one program?

A: If you purchase a single program, you will have full access to it for 3 days. If you purchase a bundle of two or more programs, you will have access to it for a 2-week period. You can access the film program(s) at your leisure throughout these time periods. As soon as you press “play,” your rental period begins. You will need to have an internet or wi-fi connection to view the films, as they are available only through online streaming (not download).

Q:  How many total programs will be for sale?

A: Two online programs will be available beginning November 26, 2020. Another program may be added in February and possibly again in April. All of these programs will remain available for purchase until October 24, 2021.

Q: Will there be a new SFCT link with each added program or will the original link remain in place as new programs are added?

A: Once you receive a SFCT link it will work for all added (new) programs. Your link is to a Vimeo platform and not to a specific program or set of programs. If you purchase a film program in November through SFCT’s link, you can use your same link to purchase any newly posted programs.

Q: What makes a perfect holiday or special occasion gift?

A: We’re so glad you asked! If you would like to send a World Tour program or bundle to someone special, you can gift a transaction to them. This option will appear on the checkout page, and after making your purchase, the gift recipient will receive an email with information about how to watch the program or bundle. They can watch anytime through October 2021, but once they begin watching they will have 3 days to watch a single program and 2 weeks to watch a bundle.
