Join staff from the Santa Fe Conservation Trust in collaboration with the Native Plant Society- NM Santa Fe at SFCT’s Galisteo Property to plant native shrubs.

We will be planting native three-leaf sumac and winterfat shrubs to provide additional food sources for bird populations and restore bird habitat, the shrubs were acquired from Plants of the Southwest. The shrubs will also be planted with a GrowOya, an unglazed clay pot, that will act as a natural irrigation system. They reduce the need for regular watering, especially in an area with limited rainfall. We will then install wire baskets to protect the shrubs until they are established.

Tools and work gloves will be provided. If you have work gloves feel free to bring your own. Please wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, sturdy boots and a hat. Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
