In 2014, Santa Fe Conservation Trust (SFCT) applied for and was awarded national accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance (LTA).  This accreditation must be renewed every five years, so SFCT is submitting our materials for accreditation renewal on February 5, 2025.  A public comment period is now open.

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting iconic landscapes, historic sites, wildlife habitat, public access and working lands forever. To be an accredited land trust, the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s finances, governing policies and programs.  Accreditation assures landowners, donors, volunteers and the community that SFCT has the credibility, financial stability, expertise, and proficiency to successfully execute our mission in perpetuity.

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how SFCT complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards that SFCT maintains to be accredited, see https://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.

Comments on the Santa Fe Conservation Trust’s application will be most useful if sent before March 22, 2025.
