Taking the berm off the bottom of this trail tread should help reduce storm erosion here and below.

On Oct. 23, a small group of volunteers reached higher up the Atalaya Trail than we have got in the past, above where the “Easier” and Steeper” sections re-unite.  After a little de-berming on the “Steeper” route, the group found plenty of locations above the junction in dire need of de-berming and nicks.  A good honest morning’s work!  We’ll continue up the trail in November.

A typical “problem section” of Atalaya Trail: a fall-line along a ridge where trail and gully are one.

We buried this rock water bar to create a better trail tread, and hopefully to improve drainage off the trail.
