Welcome to the last weekend of summer, as some like to refer to Labor Day Weekend. I am not quite sure where the summer went. Somehow coming out of the pandemic has been trying: trying to restart programs that were fallow last year; trying to get back to normal; trying not to be mad that the virus has come back so cruelly to infect the unvaccinated; trying to keep some of the simplicity of last year, when everything slowed down. 2021 has still been a year of pivots and adjustments.

But one thing is certain: the Banff Mountain Film Festival is back, this time at Motorama. And it is something to look forward to after a long, holiday weekend. Next Tuesday and Wednesday (September 7 and 8) we can get together a couple of hours prior to the showings to picnic, bar-b-que and enjoy time together outside. I thought I’d give you some hints about how to do it. Seems like the Yucca Drive In shut down before I was old enough to enjoy it.

  • Buy your tickets below. $18 per person per night.
  • Bring some warm clothes, folding chairs and a radio so you can hear it outside your car, or enjoy it inside your car using from your car radio.
  • Bring as many people as you have seatbelts.
  • Bring your coolers and food (no outside alcohol, though)
  • And get ready to enjoy some of the world’s best outdoor recreation and culture films!

We can whoop it up and enjoy some of the season’s finest weather while supporting the Santa Fe Conservation Trust! Even though the past year and a half brought challenges, SFCT is moving forward with many exciting land conservation projects and wonderful community programs that provide equitable access to the outdoors. We are attaching a link to our latest newsletter and 2020 annual report to give you more in depth information on our progress. We couldn’t do our work without you, so please join us and our wonderful sponsors at the Banff Mountain Film Festival next week.

In gratitude,

Sarah Noss
Executive Director

PS:  Did you miss our virtual event last week?  You can see it on our website through the weekend.  Our total fundraising for this event exceeded our $100,000 goal.  Thank you to everyone who participated!
